4 MINUTE READ
Would you love to do a regular yoga session every morning to increase your fitness, centre yourself and start each day with peace and love for all mankind?
BUT…
a/ by the time you’ve washed your hair, shouted at the kids and/or Piers Morgan and thrown some makeup in the general direction of your face, you’ve only got 9 minutes and 28 seconds to spare.
b/ you’re a tightwad and don’t want to waste money subscribing to an exercise channel, that you’ll tune in to nine times in the whole year, you’ll forget to cancel it and it’ll auto-renew.
Me too.
Fret ye not – there are tons of amazing FREE videos available online. Ok, you have to put up with a 4-second advert for Wix or those shoes you Googled two months ago, but hey, that’s not so bad, it gives you time to get down on to your yoga mat…GRACEFULLY PULEEEASE!
I‘ve tried and tested out a few of the videos, so with abs of steel, buns of steel, and bingo wings of ermmm, steel, I proudly present …
The Best FREE Morning Yoga Videos
Gentle Morning Bed Yoga
Yep, that’s right – you don’t even have to get out of bed.
This a very gentle stretching session and a lovely way to start the day
Now I can’t promise that you’ll end up looking as tousled and toned and gorgeous as Candace but hell girl, if we stick with this, we just might…one day.
5 Minute Morning Yoga With Adriene
This is a short stretch session and if you can set aside 5 minutes it’s an amazing way to get your day off to a positive start.
Adriene has her own YouTube channel packed with tons of amazing FREE yoga videos and millions of subscribers – and no wonder – she’s great. She has a gentle manner- her voice is so soothing that if there’s ever a OH NO – Donald Has Pressed The Button And The World Is Gonna End in 3 Minutes announcement – I want Adrienne to make it: Even when I’m doing a downward dog and my hamstrings are about to snap (if that’s possible), life seems just peachy, because Adriene is telling me so.
Step by step Look at the Sun Salutation
I love the idea of Sun Salutation – it’s like saying hello to the sun in the morning (if you can find it).
When I watch this I am transported from my cold, rainy, To Do List reality to this beautiful jungle-y setting full of with Palms Trees, exotic birds and my body is a temple!
Step by Step Lily Cushman takes us through the postures which make up a Sun Salutation in just 7 minutes.
Bargain!
Energising Wake Up Yoga
Brett Larkin presents a beautiful energizing 10-minute flow of yoga moves.
She explains the moves well and makes it look oh so easy and graceful. An absolute beginner might find this a little tough – but it’s worth it.
Gentle Beginner Yoga Flow with Dana Falsetti
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Q-y6Y5ClM
In this 15-minute session Dana Falsetti takes us through many of the classic yoga moves and shows that you don’t have to be super-skinny to be a super-strong, super-flexible and a super-inspirational teacher.
Hot Yoga Workout with Rebecca Louise
English gal, Rebecca Louise, who now lives in California, is high energy and her enthusiasm is infectious. She has an amazing YouTube Channel with heaps of FREE videos covering all sorts of fitness, toning and firming sessions, including yoga.
This 11-minute session is not for beginners. I found it hard (but I didn’t cry) but once I got my breath I felt energised and ready for the day ahead.
If you are looking for something to tone quickly this could be for you.
Yoga for Abs and Core With Esther Ekbert
Here’s another great teacher who has lots of free videos on YouTube to choose from.
There are no gimmicks with Esther. No fancy Lululemon gear, no spiritual pipe music, no exotic settings – it’s just Esther, her sensible leggings, mat and extensive knowledge.
This is short (under 8 minutes) and sweet and I expect if we all did it every day for a month or two our muffin tops would really start to worry.
Yoga for Arms
Bingo Wings Be Gone!
Sarah Beth is a no-nonsense type of gal and cuts to the chase with this 5-minute session aimed at toning arms. Effective – but not for absolute beginners.
Gentle Yoga for Seniors
Sarah Helt gives a 6-minute introduction to gentle yoga for seniors – which is also perfect if you’re new to yoga or feeling a bit meh. A bolster, strap, and blanket would be useful for this session.
15 Minute Energising Morning Flow
This beautiful 15-minute Energizing Morning Yoga Flow will leave you sweaty and, in my case, rather red. It’s tough and promises to warm up the body, boost digestion, relieve any lower back tension, energize the mind and get your stretch and sweat in before beginning the day.
Winner, right.
CAN’T BE BOTHERED?
If just reading this has left you exhausted and you’d much prefer to watch men in kilts doing yoga while you tuck into a roll and bacon then, please, be my guest…
THE END
Don’t miss a trick…you can also find me on…

Thanks for this. I love the idea of doing yoga in bed before I get up. That gives me an excuse to delay the inevitable that little bit longer! A tip for climbing Mt Kiliminjaro relates to life.

Hey Erin, thanks for popping on – I thought I’d replied.
Your kids sound like little yogis in the making. I am always amazed at how kids seem to adopt yoga poses so naturally. Not sure I was ever that bendy š
Jill
I havenāt really tried yoga as Iām so unflexible! My old manager loves yoga and if she canāt get to a class because of work she does this via videos on YouTube.
