Fantasy Dinner With…Queen Elizabeth II

Table set for fantasy dinner with Queen Elizabeth II

2 Minute Read

Where We’d Meet

A palace or one of her castles would be lovely.  The Scottish ones – Holyrood in Edinburgh or Balmoral in Royal Deeside – would work for me, but hey, I’d be happy to jump a train to London and catch up in Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

What We’d Wear

Her Maj would layer (those castles are bloody baltic) in hues of pinks and lilac: Tweed skirt, pale pink twinset, the obligatory pearls, 60 denier ecru tights and some fluffy slippers, embossed ER.

I’d be deeply inappropriate in jodhpurs, riding boots and a headscarf tied under my chin. The corgis would try and bite me.

What We’d Eat and Drink

We’d go simple – a small sherry to warm the cockles then some grilled sole served with wilted spinach and garden peas, washed down with a glass or two of Chablis. We’d follow that up with a slice of HM’s favourite Chocolate Biscuit Cake and finish with a flourish – a Dubonnet and gin cocktail – apparently, she’s partial.

3 Things I’d Ask…and The Answers

Q1  Do you and Philip binge-watch The Crown or do you prefer to limit yourselves to one episode per week?

Fantasy Answer  Delayed gratification, of course. We are enjoying Series 2 but can’t wait to see Olivia Coleman take over in Series 3.

Q2   I hear Buckingham Palace now has lifts installed. If one were to be stuck in one, who would one’s preferred companion be – Camilla, Queen of Naughtiness, Kate, The Duchess of Middle-Class or Princess Meghan of Hollywood?

Fantasy Answer Princess Meghan. I’d like to get the true measure of that young woman.

Q3  During your reign, you’ve seen 13 British Prime Ministers and 12 US Presidents come and go.  Who’s been your most and least favorite?

Fantasy Answer

PMs – Dear Winston, my first and best.  Least Favourite?  Hmmm, that one with the pipe and raincoat. Harold something, I think

Presidents – JFK was hot.  Least Favourite – the vulgar one with the dyed hair.

Any suggestions for next Fantasy Dinner companion?

I like to think I have a good command of English, however I have no effing clue what ’60 denier ecru’ is.
    Is that French?
As to being partial to a Dubbonet, do you think HM gets up with a headache some mornings and says to Philip ‘Never again Phil, my mouth feels like a corgi slept in it and my headache is absolutely palatial…’

Hahaha. Denier is thickness of tights. 60 is thick. Ecru is a colour. Thanks for reading and commenting. Made me laugh.

Again, I would really love to see this one happen. I’m always wondering what her Maj thinks of the Crown & like her I cannot wait to see Olivia Coleman take over.

Tell you what…while you dine with the Queen, I want to dine with her 2 grandsons. We’ll send the wifey and fiance off shopping and I’ll have some “one-on-one” time with the boys. I think that’s a plan! Just call me a puma, that’s a cougar in training. LOL!

I love your fantasy dinners and this one certainly didn’t disappoint, I think Her Maj is fond of a tipple or two, and I love the idea that she puts comfort first with her fluffy slippers!
I would love to hear about your fantasy dinner with Marilyn Monroe also, but someone has already suggested that, so what about Elvis, or maybe Michael Jackson. I am sure they both have many stories to tell. 🙂
